Hosted by Hasan Minhaj, the International Fair at Rye Country Day School in Greenwich, CT at Feb 28, 2026 was already destined to be lively. Add a dragon, flowing silk sleeves, and a gym full of excited families, and it turned into something unforgettable.
Li Garden Dance Company was honored to present both the traditional Dragon Dance and a Chinese classical dance performance. The dragon made its entrance with energy and rhythm, weaving through the crowd with all the spirit and symbolism that make this art form so powerful. For many students and families, it was a rare chance to experience this tradition up close.
The Chinese classical dance that followed offered a different kind of magic. Graceful movements, expressive storytelling, and elegant costuming brought centuries of culture to life on stage. The dancers carried themselves with poise and confidence, even knowing that the host of the day makes a living spotting awkward moments.
Performing at an event celebrating global cultures is always meaningful, but sharing the stage at an International Fair like this felt especially special. It was a day filled with community, curiosity, and just enough comedy to keep everyone smiling. Most importantly, the dragon behaved, the dancers shined, and no one got roasted. A clear win for culture and courage alike.
